Meconium is feces produced by your baby whilst they’re in the womb.
Meconium is composed of materials ingested by the baby whilst he is still in the uterus.
Meconium is a sticky tar like substance and is usually a dark green colour.
Normally, meconium will be stay in the baby until after birth. However, there are instances where the meconium is expelled by the baby before birth. This can cause fetal distress. Once the baby has been born the maternity can extract the meconium from the babies nose and mouth.
